Death (Rotting Oranges)

It seemed that I had dreamed a million lives when I was sleeping. I called them all a figment - an imagination running wild, but I awoke the next day and you were leaving. I don't believe in prophecy. Nothing that important comes at night.
You left your breakfast half-discarded in the sink. You left the oranges on the counter rotting. Nothing's wrong with love. That's just the way it comes and goes. It came. It went. Who's to say that it was heaven sent?
I knock the clock alarm and make my way into the city. I see my friend Sandy there. She puts away the paper then she sighed.
"Worker's strike and famine. There's a plague, and it's a pity... but tell me all about the ways they left you in the middle of the night."
There was the breakfast half-discarded in the sink. There were the oranges on the counter rotting. "But nothing's wrong with love. That's just the way it grows and dies." It grew. it died. "Leave it like a triple moonlit night."
"This is just another day to dull a life of boredom. This is just the epilogue - another love that loses life." Sandy eats her breakfast with a tuning fork a-turning. She says, "We'll blow off work and make our way down to the beach and sit awhile."
There was the breakfast half-discarded in the sink. There were the oranges on the counter rotting. Nothing's wrong with love. That's just the way it grows and dies. It grew. it died. Leave it like a triple moonlit night.
